WA Patriot Receives Design-Build Contract for New Athletics and Aquatics Center at University of Puget Sound

WA Patriot is very happy to announce that we have been awarded a contract to design and build the new Athletics and Aquatics Center at the University of Puget Sound. We are extremely pleased to be able to serve the University of Puget Sound on this exciting project, and we look forward to leading this project to a successful completion.

The project is scheduled to begin this summer and will be completed in fall2016. The design-build scope of work includes 38,000 square feet of new construction and 24,000 square feet of renovated space, as follows:

  • New indoor NCAA competition pool with eight competition-width lanes and three warm-up lanes for instruction, rehabilitation, and therapy with seating for nearly 400 spectators
  • Renovations to the existing athletic center will include new team meeting rooms, a new rowing ergometers room, an enhanced sports medicine facility, and a new coaching staff office suite
  • New addition to the fitness center for additional cardio and weight equipment and new day-use locker rooms
  • New reception area, which will include a Loggers Hall of Fame and video showcase, a juice bar/cafĂ©, and patron amenities

Zerah Florance, DBIA, LEED AP, will lead the WA Patriot team as the Project Manager, with Rory Godinez as Project Superintendent. The design team includes Upper90 Architecture, BCE Engineers, and AHBL. The key subcontractors on this project will include REP Electric, Stirrett Johnsen, The Pool Company, Olympia Sheet Metal, and Western States Fire Protection.
