WA Patriot was selected from a design-build competition to design and construct Phase III of the Pierce County Skills Center (PCSC), a new $8.7M, 24,870 square foot Culinary & Hospitality Arts and Administration Center. The facility will offer students hands-on instruction in culinary arts with baking and production cooking training, a live demonstration kitchen and a student-operated deli/grille. The facility also features a career center, commons area for multipurpose functions, and administration offices for the campus.
During construction, WA Patriot provided educational opportunities for the PCSC Construction Trades program in a variety of ways such as hiring an intern to help perform administrative tasks, sponsoring a graduate of the skills center into the carpenters apprenticeship program, and giving students tours of the jobsite during various phases of construction.
“WA Patriot is the 5th contractor I have worked with in the last six years, and I can without a doubt say your crew is head and shoulders above any of the others. The educational and employment options you have provided the PCSC students have been amazing. The class visits, internship, and the apprenticeship opportunities demonstrate your commitment to your community. You promised all these things during your presentation and your team has delivered.”
