Mechanical contractor MacDonald-Miller hosted WA Patriot’s PE/QC personnel at their Seattle office to visit their MLAB, a virtual reality room. In the lab, current technologies for construction are put on display with a collaborative space for those involved in the project to participate. WA Patriot PE/QC team members were able to walk through, move, and inspect current and future MacDonald-Miller projects, as well as a current WA Patriot project.

You can find out more about the MLAB on MacDonald-Millers’ News page of their website, in an article written by 425 Business Magazine at https://macmiller.com/425-business-magazine-mlab-feature/

2019 Safety Stand-Down a Success

As we wrap up another Safety Stand-Down Week, WA Patriot would like to thank all of our project teams for making it a great success!

WA Patriot project teams conducted Safety Stand-Downs at our job sites last week in conjunction with OSHA’s Annual National Safety Stand-Down week. Each morning, our crews took extra time for a site-specific safety talk about fall hazards and fall protection. WA Patriot’s Leadership and Safety Committee Members participated by going to each project site and sharing in the conversations on the importance of safety.

Crew members contributed by sharing their perspectives on what makes a safe job site, as well as stories and experiences that now fuel their passion and commitment to improving WA Patriot’s safety culture. At the end of the week, we held a raffle to award individuals with Gift Cards for their contributions in these discussions, and all sites hosted Safety Lunches for their project team members.

WA Patriot is committed to our goal of ensuring that EVERYONE GOES HOME SAFE.

QC Training – Orting Job Site

In conjunction with WA Patriot’s monthly Quality Control training, our PEs / QCs (? ) went out to a current design-build project we are performing in Orting where they reviewed weatherproofing, mockups, and the Building Envelope QC checklist. WA Patriot holds these QC training events on a regular basis to ensure that our standard QC processes and tools are used and shared among all of our Project Engineers. WA Patriot is passionate about educating our future leaders as they continue to grow and learn with each new

project opportunity.

WA Patriot Celebrates Retirement of Sr. Project Manager

WA Patriot celebrated the retirement of one of our most experienced Project Managers, Mark Zygmontowicz, in January. Mark’s professional journey started with Wade Perrow Construction in 1991, and eventually led him to become an integral member of the WA Patriot team. He is an invaluable team member whose dedication and commitment to getting the job done was recognized by everyone he worked with. Although his retirement is our loss, it is well deserved.

Thank you, Mark, for your many years of service and friendship. Cheers to your retirement!

2018 Holiday Party – Celebration of Success

The WA Patriot team celebrated another successful year on Saturday, December 8th at our annual Holiday Dinner Party, which was held at the Alma Mater Tacoma venue. Alma Mater is an artist-focused venue, so we incorporated an artist theme with live painters Lucien Vedego and Ameila Kaiser, and Magician Nicholas Byers to provide entertainment for the evening.

Evening festivities included recognizing this year’s PATRIOT Award winner, Mikhail Balasyuk, who was nominated by his peers for his dedication, reliability, and passion. We also recognized our craft personnel for their safety successes.

A big THANK YOU to an amazing team for all your contributions throughout the year.

Cheers to 2019!

WA Patriot’s 2018 Thanksgiving Food Drive

Staying true to our core value of serving our community, WA Patriot held an annual holiday food drive and donated cash and grocery items in support of the Gig Harbor Peninsula FISH Food Bank. WA Patriot is grateful to all who contributed and who share our passion for helping local families in need in the community where we live and work.

WA Patriot Welcomes Two New Project Engineers to our Team

WA Patriot is pleased to announce the addition of two new Project Engineers: Katie Johnson and Amanda KingTalik. They are currently supporting projects for Zerah Florance (Tool Gage, Alaska Airlines), Neil Shaw (Boeing Auburn projects), and Kayla Fillion (Muckleshoot Indian Tribe Veterans Memorial Plaza and Park.) We are happy to have these two new team members on board, and look forward to their growth with our company!

Congratulations Kayla Fillion

WA Patriot is very pleased to announce that Kayla Fillion has moved into a new position as Project Manager. Kayla has been with WA Patriot since 2015 after graduating from WSU. To ease into her new role, she will be managing smaller projects and taking a share of responsibilities from Project Managers on other projects.

Sitka Fishing Trip

WA Patriot’s Superintendents and Shareholders took to the open ocean for a weekend of fishing off the coast of Sitka, Alaska in August. Not only did they enjoy the camaraderie and team building, but they also succeeded in catching a lot of delicious salmon and halibut that they brought back to share with the rest of us.

Happy Retirement Dave!

Dave Seals, master carpenter, officially retired this summer after 41 years as Union Carpenter where he put in over 77,000 hours of high-quality work. We wish you the best!
