WA Patriot participated this year in the CAPE (Career and Pathway Expo) Program, which serves approximately 250 girls in 6th – 8th grades from Peninsula School District. The program is aimed at getting middle school girls excited about and involved in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math). WA Patriot Project Manager Zerah Florance, along with Architect Jessica Archer, walked three groups of 8-10 girls through a WA Patriot project under construction in Gig Harbor where they were able to see a concrete stem wall, concrete placement, and rebar embeds. Zerah and Jessica explained to them about all the different professionals involved in a construction project and the large number of career paths you can take and be involved in with construction. They also touched on general materials, methods, and basics of construction plans. Many thanks to Zerah and Jessica for taking their personal time to help expose these young girls to STEM!
